The angel Gabriel announces to the Virgin Mary that she has been chosen by God amongst women as a band of angels overhead plays flute, cello, harp and harpsichord. A pure white dove surrounded by yellow light burst through the clouds in the centre of the painting providing the visual focal point of the scene. The silky use of green, red, blue and black provides the painting with a lovely dreamlike quality. A great gift for fans of El Greco, the Virgin Mary, angels, and catholic art.
