STICKERS (Round) - SIDE+1 - Queen of Russia (1762-1796) Catherine II (Ekaterine II) has died in November 1796. A year later (1797) this commemorative coin/medal had been struck by Matthew Boulton at the Soho mint while using steam powered engine. This extremely rare coin (medal) has the same dimensions and material used as famous British (English) Cart Wheel Pence, struck in the same year 1797 in large quantities, approximately worth of £600,000. On the contrary this very rare coin to remind Death of Catherine II is sometimes sold on auctions to high value bidders. It was never circulated. Details: 28.9mm, crowned, laureate draped bust of Catherine II with legend on the rim. On reverse is crowned imperial double eagle with legend on the rim by C. Kuechler.
