Edouard Manet - The Fifer / Young Flautist Large Clock
The Fifer / Young Flautist (Le Fifre), painted by Édouard Manet in 1866 in oil on canvas, presents an anonymous young regimental musician playing his fife against an almost depthless grey background. Inspired by Manet’s encounter with Velázquez at the Prado during his 1865 trip to Spain, particularly Pablo de Valladolid, the painting treats an ordinary child from a military band with the monumentality of a Spanish grandee. Bold areas of black, red and white, a reduced palette and minimal modelling flatten the figure so radically that contemporaries compared the work to a playing card. Rejected by the Salon jury in 1866, The Fifer became one of the paintings that inspired Émile Zola’s enthusiastic public defence of Manet and of his distinctly modern approach to painting.

Our first wedding anniversary is coming up and we heard the modern 1st wedding anniversary gift is clocks. So we decided to get a personalised clock made up to commemorate the occasion. And we're very impressed with the product that we received :-). Looks the exact same way it did online

I’ve bought a few faux canvas products and I love them all! I bought the baseball clock for my husband who is in permanent aged care. It looks great in his room. The printing look just like the it did in the pic - GREAT!

I bought this clock as a gift for my husband for our 50th wedding anniversary. The first one went missing in transit so Zazzle ordered a replacement which arrived quickly. It's a lovely clock and I'm sure will look beautiful on the wall when we eventually hang it on ANZAC Day. The printing is lovely.
