Dutch-Indonesian Shadow Puppet Delft Blauw V2. Ceramic Tile

This is an Indonesian shadow puppet Delft Blau tile. It's to reflect my, and hopefully your, Dutch-Indonesian heritage (Indo). I couldn't find anything that really fit my vanishing generation, so ended up creating my own. The shadow puppets are called wayang. This design was inspired by The Indo Project. Mostly I made it so I could have my own. Now your moeder, vader, grootmoeder en grootvader can have one too! A little history: 1st generation Dutch-Indonesians were those in Indonesia or born in Indonesia pre-WWII. 2nd generation were the survivors of the concentation camps and emigres to The Netherlands. The 3rd generation were born of these emigres, and will be the last children of those camp survivors, and the last mix of the Dutch East Indies. While Indos continue on, the word mostly means something else in latter generations. My Oom Jas would get a kick out of this, uh, after lecturing me to clean my plate. "Oom Jas, not Batavia agaaaain!" Childhood was strange for us 3rd gens. The work is digital over paint. And remember to fill the bottle. Ben je opgegroeid in een schuur?
