Dulcian, Oboe, Bassoon, Baronite Oboe Poster

Dulcian, Oboe, Bassoon, Baronite Oboe Poster

The pioneering work on historic musical instruments of Alfred James Hipkins as researcher, performer, lecturer and author was respected in his lifetime and has been widely acknowledged to this day. He is known today chiefly through two of his publications, Musical Instruments, Historic, Rare and Unique, illustrated by William Gibb (1888), and A Description and History of the Piano-forte and of the older keyboard stringed instruments (1896), as well as his many articles in the Encyclopaedia Britannica and Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Hipkins was Honorary Curator of the General Museum of the Royal College of Music until his death, and also wrote the Catalog for its Donaldson Museum in 1894.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
