Le Professeur Charles Gariel ~ Medical Caricature ~ B. Moloch c.1900 ~~~ Charles-Marie Gariel (1841-1924) studied at the Ecole Polytechnique (class of 1861) and the School of Bridges and Roads. He obtained a degree in physical sciences. Two years later, after studying at the Faculty of Medicine of Paris, Gariel supports two theses on the ophthalmoscope and physics of hearing, and becoming a medical doctor. In 1873 he became secretary of the French Association for the Advancement of Science. He is a member of the Mathematical Society of France in 1876 and joined the Academy of Medicine in 1882. In 1879 he is responsible for the chemistry course at the School of bridges and roads, and in 1887, professor of medical physics and dean of the Medical Faculty. He published a collection of scientific works (1878). He became Director of Studies of the Graduate School of Industrial Physics and Chemistry in 1898. ~~~ Artist: Hector Moloch (B.
