A tear in the eye makes you look again, what is she looking at? She is looking at Earth, she is looking at us. Asteria was a respected Greek goddess, from the family of Titans and the mother of Hecate. She was also known as Nix, Goddess of the Night. A giver of wisdom, and symbolic of the brightness of the night. Possibly the last goddess to walk among humankind. Purples predominate. The name Asteria and the artist's signature are incorporated into the painting.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
