Delgatie Castle – Scottish Hay Clan Jigsaw Puzzle

Delgatie Castle – Scottish Hay Clan Jigsaw Puzzle

Delgatie Castle makes a fun puzzle for every member of the Hay clan or anyone who enjoys jigsaw puzzles. Delgatie Castle, a 12th-century tower house, is the Clan Hay Center. Like many powerful Scottish clans, the Hay family has been associated with a number of castles across the centuries. New Slains Castle was the clan seat for generations and is also featured in numerous products at ClanCastles. The structure of Delgatie Castle dates from about 1045 and has been owned by the Hay family for the last 650 years or so. It is located in Aberdeenshire, about three miles from Turriff, where the first skirmish in the civil war between the Covenanters and the Royalists took place in May 1639. The Hay clan arrived in England with William the Conqueror in 1066 and descends from the Scoto-Norman knight Guillaume de la Haye, first recorded about 1160. The Earl of Erroll title was created for Sir William Hay in 1453 and also holds the hereditary office of Lord High Constable of Scotland. The Hay name originated with the barony of La Haye du Puits, which the family held in Normandy. Hay comes from “Haga,” the Old High German word for a defensive wall or hedge. Delgatie is not just open for tours, but offers itself as accommodation for those who wish to visit the area. On the castle grounds are three self-catering cottages, while visitors can also stay in two different suites inside the castle. I was a bit disappointed to find that for the price the puzzle was only a small 252 pieces ..... but ....... it is so intricate that if it was bigger I would be frazzled by now bought as a special Christmas jigsaw for work colleagues to play with in our breaks - it is a great way to get the team to collaborate on something fun, and to start conversations between folk, and a great positive opportunity to provide compliments on the effort put in and progress being made the puzzle itself is beautifully made - each piece feels lovely (not a cheap cardboard puzzle) and the shapes are all similar but different Still a work in progress after a week - it's great!!!! a truly lovely thing ... it will come out each year - both at work and at home. great image, and fantastic finish on the pieces
