Death of Patrick Ferguson at King's Mountain Poster

Death of Patrick Ferguson at King's Mountain Poster

The Battle of King's Mountain was a pivotal engagement during the American Revolutionary War, fought on October 7, 1780, in South Carolina, near the border with North Carolina. This battle was a crucial turning point in the Southern theatre of the war. Loyalist militia and British troops, led by Major Patrick Ferguson, faced off against a force of American frontiersmen, primarily from the western frontier regions of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The battle took place on a rugged, forested ridge known as King's Mountain. The American militia, under the command of various leaders such as Colonel William Campbell, Colonel Isaac Shelby, and Colonel John Sevier, used innovative tactics, including sharpshooting and a relentless uphill assault, to surround and defeat Ferguson's forces. The battle was intense and brutal, with both sides fiercely committed to their respective causes. In the end, the American frontiersmen emerged victorious, inflicting heavy casualties on the Loyalists and capturing Ferguson himself. The Battle of King's Mountain had a profound impact on the Southern campaign of the Revolutionary War. It not only weakened British and Loyalist influence in the region but also inspired American patriots to join the cause. The victory at King's Mountain bolstered morale and helped set the stage for the eventual American victory in the South. It remains a symbol of the tenacity and determination of American irregular forces during the Revolution, as well as a turning point that contributed to the ultimate success of the American colonies in their quest for independence from British rule.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
