"Daybreak" Maxfield Parrish 1922, oil on panel, shows a dreamy scene of a young woman lying between two columns with a lapis blue background landscape. Standing over her is a mysterious androgynous spirit. This vintage print was one of the most popular of its time.
Commissioned by the art publishing firm, House of Art, in August of 1920 "Daybreak" Parrish's first work commissioned solely for the purpose of reproduction as a colour lithographic print which was distributed as an art print beginning in 1922 Maxfield Parrish was one of America's best known painters in the early twentieth century.
