Shortly after losing his final bid for Congress in 1835, Crockett withdrew from politics and drifted west, famously telling his former constituents “you may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” It was not long after arriving in Texas that Crockett would famously die trying to defend the Alamo. Seems a lot of people are still going to Texas these days, telling places like California and New York to go to Hell.
