"Dartford" the three-masted sailing ship, The ship's name can be seen along the hull. Bourne was active and lived in Australia from 1897 to 1905. The Red Ensign is the official naval and civilian ensign of the British Empire. It's flown by British merchant and passenger ships, and on Royal Navy vessels that are part of the Red Squadron. The Red Ensign is also known as the "Red Duster". The Red Ensign originated as a British naval ensign flown by the Royal Navy. It was later adopted as the civil ensign by British merchant ships. The Red Ensign was first flown in the colonies and served as the first flag of the United States.
