Cute Animal Orangutan Jungle Family Classic Round Sticker

Wild animals in rainforest. A sweet wildlife family - an orangutan mother and her cute baby in Tanjung Puting National Park, Kalimantan, Indonesia Borneo . There 's a wonderful story about this mother! Many years ago she was rescued, rehabilitated, and released by O.F.I. (Orangutan Foundation International) whose legendary work has been going on for decades. The youngster is part of their success story since she was born in the wild. Orangutans are the only surviving great ape outside of the African continent. . This first version of the sticker has a humourous touch. We have all seen those bumper stickers on cars, proclaiming, "My child is an honour student at _____" (name of school). This proud mother who is over 40 years old tells us , "My child is an honour student in the rain forest." (The 't' in forest is hidden in the example of how the sticker folds off the self-stick page, but it does show on the front of the actual product.) I ordered some of these stickers for myself and the text is small. You may want to enlarge it - or delete it! The orangutan mother on this sticker is actually very famous. Her name as Akmad, and she appeared on the cover of National Geographic in October 1975, holding the hand of Dr. Birute Galdikas, who along with Dian Fossey and Jane Goodall, was one of the three women nicknamed Leakey's Angels for their ground-breaking work. Akmad is pictured here in Camp Leakey, a remote jungle site and the site of the longest running, continuous animal study of a single species.
