Cross Star Nativity Poster
While painting the theme of the Nativity some texts came to mind that describe "The God of Light". My reflection influenced the way I decided to suggest a cross hidden within the form of the star of Bethlehem. I thought about how before the creation of the world God had already arranged a means by which each of us could be deemed redeemed. While looking at my work in progress another artist at the studio said to me "Let there be Light!" While this is not a verse that we think about much at Christmas, how incredibly similar an act it was just as "in the beginning" to send the God of Light into the darkness of the world through Christ’s birth. When we are in the dark isn't the smallest glimmer of light a sign of hope? So how much greater is the possibility for a darkened soul’s hope to be restored when he or she welcomes the redeeming presence of Christ that restores life and light. The star under which Christ was born, was marked before all time by Cavalry's cross — in order to redeem all who find the life and light at the cross within. As I paint this picture on the nativity, I was thinking of the texts that describe us "The God of Light". And the way I represented the star suggests a cross hidden in the same shape. For before the creation of the world God has already foreseen the means by which each of us can be redeemed. Looking at my canvas, a person I paint with in the studio told me, "Let the Light Be!" It is not a text that is much contemplated at Christmas and yet, what creative act, as in the beginning, to send The God of Light into the darkness of the world. If we are in the dark, it is not the slightest light that gives hope. And how much stronger is the possibility for the individual who welcomes the redeeming presence of Christ to be enlightened spiritually? Jesus was born under a good star - that of the cross of the ordeal; the only one who can redeem all humanity.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
