Copenhagen Poster

Copenhagen, the capital and largest city of Denmark, boasts a history that spans over a thousand years. Established as a fishing village in the 10th century, Copenhagen began to flourish under the rule of Bishop Absalon in the 12th century. Absalon fortified the city, laying the foundation for what would become the iconic København (Copenhagen) Castle. By the 15th century, Copenhagen had become a significant center for trade and commerce in the Baltic region, and it was officially designated as the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. The 17th century marked a period of growth and transformation for Copenhagen under the reign of King Christian IV. The king initiated ambitious architectural projects, including the construction of the district of Christianshavn and the iconic Rosenborg Castle. Copenhagen continued to play a crucial role in European affairs, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars when it came under British attack in 1807. The 19th century saw the city undergoing urban development and industrialization, with landmarks like the Tivoli Gardens, one of the world's oldest amusement parks, opening in 1843. Copenhagen maintained its neutrality during World War II but faced challenges during the German occupation. Post-war reconstruction and a focus on social welfare contributed to the city's modern reputation as a progressive and sustainable metropolis. In recent decades, Copenhagen has gained global recognition for its commitment to environmental sustainability, urban planning, and quality of life. The city is celebrated for its bicycle-friendly infrastructure, innovative architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. Notable landmarks include the Little Mermaid statue, and the Amalienborg Palace. Today, Copenhagen stands as a dynamic city that seamlessly blends its rich historical heritage with modern design and a forward-thinking approach to urban living.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
