In the dawning age of automobiles, all kinds of things were tried out. This interesting vehicle is a side dumping car. It was patented in 1919, and it was used for a little while, never really catching on.
It didn't carry a large payload, which is probably why it doesn't exist today in this form (though other devices do use a similar design, based off this patent). The truck would carry the cement and drive while it dumped. Currently we use a cement truck and just dump it via a shoot, and its far more effective.

I bought this clock as a gift for my husband for our 50th wedding anniversary. The first one went missing in transit so Zazzle ordered a replacement which arrived quickly. It's a lovely clock and I'm sure will look beautiful on the wall when we eventually hang it on ANZAC Day. The printing is lovely.
