COMPASSION (Spirit Bear) Poster

This Kermode Bear was created from the beautiful photography of Martin Bokesch. A burnished gold sunset glows in the background as a wild white Bear bathes in the waters of Wild Spirit Lake. This gorgeous Spirit Bear conveys the message of "Compassion" perfectly. Spirit Bears as they are known by First Nations people of northern British Columbia in Canada, are a rare form of Black Bear. They are not albinos but a beautiful mutation of the Black Bear gene. The phenomenon occurs in very select areas of British Columbia and then only in 10% of the Black Bears in these regions. They are also known as Kermode or Kermodei Bears. They are believed to be sacred and are a protected species.
