This is an up-close and personal view of the Statue of President Lincoln in Lytle Park, Cincinnati, Ohio (OH). Circa 1917. It is a keepsake of the U.S.A. Civil War, when the Republican party was steeped in values, moral issues, and a sense of right and wrong worth dying for. The statue is closely cropped in the face for drama and impact. This was Teddy Roosevelt's favourite statue of Lincoln, while Lincoln's son, Robert Todd, really did not like the portrayal. Donated to the city of Cincinnati by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phelps Taft. Sculpture by George Grey Barnard first shocked Cincinnatians with its gaunt and weary features but later gained international fame. Lytle Park was founded in 1907

The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty. They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
