The Comanche Indians were a Native American tribe that lived in the 1500s. The Comanche were originally part of the Eastern Shoshone, The Comanche were nomadic and hunted bison on the Great Plains. The Comanche's territory was known as Comancheria. The Comanche lived in Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
George Catlin was an American adventurer, lawyer, painter, author, and traveller, who specialised in portraits of Native Americans in the American Frontier. Travelling to the American West five times during the 1830s, Catlin wrote about and painted portraits that depicted the life of the Plains Indians. Born: July 26, 1796, Wilkes-Barre, PA Died: December 23, 1872, Jersey City, NJ.
