This design features an original painting by Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (1866–1944), who was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art. The original German title of this painting is "Farbstudie: Quadrate mit konzentrischen Ringen". It is perhaps Kandinsky's most recognizable work. Color was especially important to Kandinsky, because he was a synaesthete, i.e. he could "hear colors and "see sounds".

The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty.
They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
