Cleopatra and Caesarion Poster
This is an oil painting of a relief on the back wall of the Denderah temple in Egypt. It shows Cleopatra and Caesarion, her son by Julius Caesar. This picture has so many hieroglyps, meticulously produced to avoid any mistakes, that it took me months to paint this. I even had a friend who went to Egypt and to Denderah espcially to photograph the hieroglyphs for me. So everything is as lifelike as was possible for me to paint. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
