Claude Monet - Path in Wheat Fields at Pourville Ceramic Knob
Path in the Wheat Fields at Pourville (Chemin dans les blés à Pourville), 1882 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. Monet spent long periods on the Normandy coast in 1882, exploring the landscapes around Pourville. This landscape places a narrow path between high wheat fields and leads the eye towards the Channel. The route links cultivated farmland with the open coast. Vigourous directional strokes make grain and grasses appear stirred by wind, while the distant sea remains comparatively calm. The motif turns an ordinary country path into a study of movement, depth and summer light.
