Claude Monet Painting By the Edge of a Wood (c. 1887) by John Singer Sargent is a vintage Victorian fine art portrait painting. Claude Monet is painting a landscape on a painter's canvas in a meadow by the edge of a forest. His future second wife (Alice Hoschedé) is watching him paint. This impressionism painting was done in the "en plein air" style which means in the open air, meant to describe paintings created outside.
About the artist:
John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) was the most successful portrait painter of his era. Sargent is usually not thought of as an Impressionism painter, but he sometimes used impressionistic techniques to great effect with his own version of the impressionist style.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
