This is the Magnificent Mile (or sometimes called the Mag Mile), a name given by a real estate developer, Arthur Rubloff. He gave this name in the 1940's. Located on Michigan Ave, its fulled with all sorts of high end stores, art galleries, etc.
There are quite a few historic landmarks here as well. A few you can see: Wrigely building, Tribune tower, The art institute.
Today this location has almost all the buildings intact. Even those light posts are still there.
