The design of this family crest is based on the "split fan" concept described in a crest book. Although the "split fan" concept cannot be used to draw the Jigami crest directly, it was applied to create this design. (Created on April 10, 2013) A fan without paper, consisting only of bones, is called "ogibone." On the other hand, paper without bones is called "jigami." (From "Understanding Family Crests")
