Chichen Itza Ancient Mayan Temple Art Poster

Chichen Itza Ancient Mayan Temple Art Poster

About "Temple of the Sacred Moon" by Skye Ryan-Evans © It is widely believed that according to the Mayan calendar, the world is due to end on December 20th, 2012. This is in part because the ancient stone calendar abruptly curtails its predictions and references to the future at that point. Who knows, maybe they just ran out of stone to fit more information in and we'll discover a 2nd stone calendar in November 2011. (I'm an optimist). Either way, the Mayan culture has held modern Man's awe and admiration for centuries and no doubt, will continue to do so long after New Year's day of 2013. Designed to symbolise the planetary alignment in the moments prior to the Great Eclipse of 2012, this beautiful image will serve as a tribute to this powerful culture. To quote the Wikipaedia, "The Maya is a Mesoamerican civilisation, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as its art, architecture, and mathematical and astronomical systems. Initially established during the Pre-Classic period (c. 2000 BC to 250 AD), according to the Mesoamerican chronology, many Maya cities reached their highest state development during the Classic period (c. 250 AD to 900 AD), and continued throughout the Post-Classic period until the arrival of the Spanish. At its peak, it was one of the most densely populated and culturally dynamic societies in the world." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayans 25% of proceeds from the sale of this beautiful art poster is donated directly to Habitat for Humanity in support of their ongoing efforts to aid people in need of shelter.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
