Restored from a 19th century book, this heraldic Eagle of gold on a blue background drawn by Hugo G. Ströhl is the coat of arms of Patrie dal Friuli, the historical Friulian state that was independent from 1077 to 1420 under the control of the Patriarch of Aquileia, and that is now part of Italy. As some areas of the Patrie dal Friûl were at some point part of the Habsburg empire, Ströhl included this coat of arms in his famous work "Österreichisch-Ungarische Wappenrolle" (1890).
