Chamomille, Matricaria matricarioides Square Sticker

Wild chamomille, Matricaria matricarioides, is known as pineappleweed because of the cone-shaped flowers it produces, which look somewhat like green pineapples without the spikey leaves protruding from their tops. Matricaria matricarioides is the only known species of wild chamomille on Unalaska Island. Matricaria matricarioides is a member of the Aster family, Asteraceae, or Compositae family. Wild chamomille is a medicinal plant used to make herbal teas for colds and other ailments. Wild chamomille is a common wildflower of Alaska, and of the Aleutian Islands, of which Unalaska Island is a member.
