Centennial of Independence 1892 by Henri Rousseau is a vintage fine art post impressionism painting featuring people waving banners and flags in celebration. It is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the first French Republic in 1792. Happy peasants dance the farandole, an open chain community dance, around three liberty trees. About the artist: Henri Julien Felix Rousseau (1844-1910) was a French Post Impressionist painter in the Naive genre, primitive manner or Primitivism. He was also known as Le Douanier, the customs officer.

The quality of these larger mugs is very good. I have been putting mine through the dishwasher all the time and it shows no signs of fading or dulling. Ergonomically these are lovely to hold and have fast become my favourite mug for a big cup of tea or coffee. Totally recommend getting the tea infuser with the mug especially if you like using loose leaf tea, which always tastes better from my experience and is better for the environment. Printing was good, bright and most importantly accurately matches the colouring shown on the website.
