The triple spiral, or Triskele, is one of the oldest symbols of Celtic Mysticism, and often stands for the "three realms" - Land, Sea and Sky, or Body, Mind and Spirit, the Holy Trinity or the concept of the triple goddess. I was extremely happy to find a tree ornament for my Occupational Therapist daughter. (I bought one a few years ago for my Paramedic son) & prior to seeing this I was trying to work out how I could create something similar for her.
