Carpenter's Hall - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Metal Ornament

Carpenter's Hall - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Metal Ornament

The meeting of the First Continental Congress in Carpenter's Hall in 1774 marked a significant turning point in the growing tensions between the American colonies and the British Crown. This congress convened from September 5 to October 26, 1774, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and brought together delegates from twelve of the thirteen American colonies (Georgia did not send representatives). Carpenter's Hall served as the perfect setting for this crucial gathering, providing a relatively neutral location where delegates could discuss their grievances and consider a united response to the British government's oppressive policies. During the First Continental Congress, delegates such as George Washington, John Adams, and Peyton Randolph, among others, deliberated on a range of issues, primarily centring on the Intolerable Acts, which included the Boston Port Act and the Massachusetts Government Act. The Congress produced a series of important documents, including the Suffolk Resolves and the Declaration and Resolves, which articulated the colonies' objections to these acts and called for non-importation and non-exportation agreements. Carpenter's Hall echoed with impassioned debates and negotiations that laid the foundation for future efforts to secure American rights and liberties. The First Continental Congress represented the first coordinated attempt by the American colonies to voice their concerns and grievances to the British Crown, ultimately setting the stage for the more radical actions that would follow, including the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War in 1775.

What a cute ornament with all the best bosses from Mega Man 1-4! The coating (to keep from scratching) almost feels like podge glue. Awesome! Very awesome - see my photo for size.
