Poster inspired by a lovely watercolor painting by Swedish artist Carl Larsson. The picture shows a small girl in a beautiful red dress and cap. She's smiling happily, while presenting three burning candles and a basket of apples. Bringing joy, light, and gifts, she looks like a perfect image of the spirit of Christmas. When her father, the Swedish artist Carl Larsson, saw her, he immediately wanted to paint her. Stand still! he is supposed to have said.
The picture was used for the title page of the 1901 Christmas edition of the Swedish magazine Idun (as in the Norse goddess of youth).
Digital restoration in September 2020: Careful enhancements with respect to light, contrast and colours. Also disturbing dirt and scratches has been removed.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
