The "mama cat" & puppy painting shows a unique situation i.e. a newborn puppy has joined a mother cat and her kitten. The tiny puppy has curled up and has fallen asleep under the warmth and protection of the mother...."Cat"! Appropriately, this painting is named "The Unexpected Guest." It was painted by English artist Horatio Henry Couldery (1832 - 1893). Couldery was one of the best known English animal painters. He specialised in painting both dogs and cats, but was especially known for his highly detailed paintings of cats.
