Call to Paradise by Mike Massengale Poster
Call to Paradise is a series of paintings that represent poster art of the 1940’s and the 1950’s. I use a series of S curves similar to that of cartoonist to create movement and rhythm though out the composition and figures, much like the wall murals of Thomas Hart Benton. The colours in the images blend the backgrounds and figures together to build visual interest. Many other artists state that my colour work is that of Van Gogh. Just like him, I flip my values so that there is tension between forms. Some of the painting strokes are broad while many are very thin and detailed. Art Buyers (and art lovers) will see the symbolic stories of yesterday and today. The series is about relaxing and enjoying the moment. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
