C-47 Skytrain in Texas Poster

C-47 Skytrain in Texas Poster

The C-47 Skytrain, originally known as the DC-3, is an iconic military transport aircraft with a storied history. It was developed in the 1930s and became one of the most versatile and widely used aircraft during World War II. The C-47 was a twin-engine, propeller-driven aircraft designed for both civilian and military purposes. During World War II, it served primarily as a military transport plane, playing a crucial role in the Allied forces' logistics and airborne operations. It was used for troop transport, cargo transport, medical evacuation, and glider towing during major airborne assaults like D-Day and Operation Market Garden. The C-47's durability, reliability, and ability to operate from short and unprepared airstrips made it invaluable to the war effort. After World War II, the C-47 continued its service in various roles, including as a civilian airliner, and it remained in military service with many nations for decades. Its enduring legacy as the "Gooney Bird" attests to its significance in aviation history.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
