Swallowtail butterfly T-Shirt

This design was created with reference to the "crest pattern diagram and training text" of the "Kyoto crest painter" in "The Great Japanese Crest Encyclopedia" (March 28, 2013). "Fusadate" refers to a state where the wings are held horizontally, whereas "Agehacho" refers to a state where the wings are raised. The "Agehacho" that appears in family crests is not generally the same as the swallowtail butterfly. It was surprising to learn that the Agehacho in the pattern is different from the swallowtail butterfly in biology. It was also surprising to discover that the name of the pattern is distinguished by whether the wings are raised or lowered. (From "Exploring Family Crests" by Keiichi Morimoto)
