Buffalo NY Botanical Gardens Ink Sketch Postcard

Note from artist Mary Kunz Goldman: The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is one of the world's great conservatories. It was built in the 1890s, designed by the great Buffalo greenhouse architecture firm Lord and Burnham. The architects, who also designed the conservatories in San Francisco and also the National Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. The beautiful conservatory they designed for their hometown is tri-dome Victorian and was inspired by London's legendary Crystal Palace. I drew this fanciful, carefree view of the Botanical Gardens on location, in ink, on April 10, 2021. This view is the front entrance, seen from a bench off the centre path. This would be a great gift for a Buffalonian, a former Buffalonian, or anyone else whose heart is in Buffalo -- and whose is not? It is great architecture, very much of its era, and would be relevant to anyone who enjoys architecture history.
