Bodrum Castle, Bodrum, Aegean Postcard

Dominating the harbor of Bodrum, this 15th-century fortress was built by the Knights of St. John. Constructed using stones from the nearby Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the castle is an imposing example of medieval military architecture on the Aegean coast. Today, the castle houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, featuring ancient shipwrecks and relics found in the depths of the Aegean. From its towers, visitors can look out over the white-washed houses of Bodrum and the rows of wooden gulets bobbing in the azure harbor.
