Blue Mountain of the Far North: Print
Oil painting of a mountain found in the Brooks Range, in the arctic of Alaska. The peak is a deep blue colour, among the dull green hills of evergreen spruce and aspen trees. It depicts an overcast, cloudy day in the beginning of autumn in the far north wilderness. Small colour changes appear across the taiga, and the endless summer day finally gives way to nightfall, as the midnight sun starts to dip below the horizon.
The landscape is wild with woods and rough terrain, dimly lit under grey skies. The land is stable, but a strange sense of instability lingers in the air, as if something giant is about to fall. The passing layers in the heavens above move by in a dull pearly procession of clouds. The winds slowly fade and grow silent, as a sombre sense of expectation seems to permeate the land, and the permafrost below awaits being joined by the arctic freeze above.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
