This design features a painting by the American artist Abbott Handerson Thayer (1849–1921). It shows two birds perched on twigs in a wintry woodland landscape. The birds are blue jays, which is a sparrow-like bird native to North America. The ground is covered by snow and there is a dense forest of trees in the background. The original artwork was painted in 1909.
