Blank Card - The Governor's Palace

The original Governor's Palace was built between 1706 and 1710, and housed 7 English Colonial Governors beginning with Alexander Spotswood and ending with John Murray, Lord Dunmore. Two post-English Virginian Governors, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson, also lived in the Palace before Jefferson moved the government to Richmond and fire burned the Palace down in 1781. Generous contributions from the Reverend Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin and John D. Rockefeller, Jr. saw the iconic Palace reconstructed between 1931 and 1934.
