This piece is another that I started two or maybe even three years ago and let slip through the cracks. Let me tell you: It was for the best. It took time to harness my style and broaden my headspace to be ready to take it in the direction it went rather than the narrow direction in which I originally envisioned it going. Does that ever happen to you? I absolutely love the way the leaves turned out. If I'm being honest, part of the reason I procrastinated on it was that I was super nervous about how light or dark to make the berries because I wanted a little shine to reflect off them in this piece as it does in nature, but working with such tiny spaces made me overthink it. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out & I also went a lot bolder with the background than what I originally planned. It was worth the wait! Don't you think so, too?
