Blackbeard Postcard

Blackbeard Postcard

Blackbeard, whose real name was likely Edward Teach, was one of the most infamous pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century. Born around 1680 in England, Teach became known for his fearsome appearance, chraacterised by his long, black beard, which earned him the moniker "Blackbeard." He entered piracy in the West Indies and later gained notoriety in the American colonies and the West Atlantic. Blackbeard's flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, was a former French slave ship that he equipped with 40 guns, making it a formidable vessel. Blackbeard's legend grew as he engaged in acts of piracy along the American coast and in the Caribbean. His reputation for ruthlessness and intimidation often led to the surrender of his targets without a fight. In 1718, a naval expedition led by Lieutenant Robert Maynard of the Royal Navy engaged Blackbeard off the coast of North Carolina. In a fierce battle, Blackbeard was killed, and his head was severed and hung from the bow of Maynard's ship. The demise of Blackbeard marked the end of his notorious pirate career, but his legend and the mystery surrounding his buried treasure have persisted in maritime lore for centuries.

Way better quality than I ever expected. I love the colours, font and quality of the card. I'm so pleased I found Zazzle as it is near impossible to purchase Vintage or Retro Australian memorabilia online. I chose this design when I purchased them. They are perfect for my projects. I was very specific about what I wanted. I know where to come now when I need to order similar items.

Perfect for the occasion I was using it for. I was able to delete the lines so I could put in more wording. Had an envelope so the address side wasn't necessary. Print quality and paper quality lovely.
