Bison in the Snow (by Rosa Bonheur) Ceramic Tile
It shows a large herd of bison walking through a winter landscape. The ground is completely covered with snow, so the landscape is almost entirely white. Bison are bovine creatures, similar to cows, and they are large even-toed ungulates. Bison are often called buffalo, but the animals are not closely related to African buffalo or water buffalo. The European bison is also known as wisent. Bison have brown fur and pointed horns. The original art was painted by Rosa Bonheur in 1897.
