Bird On Branch Young Junvenile Black Phoebe Label

Featured on these customisable large return address labels is an original photo by Karen Coffelt of a young juvenile black phoebe bird perched on a branch. The black phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) is a passerine bird of the tyrant-flycatcher family. They have primarily black plumage with a white underbelly and undertail coverts. Males and females are identical in colour, and juveniles have brown feather tips and brown wing bars. It lives in a variety of habitats but is always near water. Their breeding range is from southern Oregon and California down trough Central and South America. It is mainly insectivorous and waits on a branch before going forth and catching it's prey on the wing. They make open cup nests placed under cliffs or bridges, which they cement in place with mud.
