This poster captures a tree trunk that has been almost completely gnawed through by beavers. The tree is on a rather steep creek bank and chewed at the perfect angle to roll down into the water. What incredible animals they are! Mainly nocturnal, these large, semi-aquatic rodents are famous for building dams, canals, and lodges (homes). They are the second-largest rodent in the world. Their colonies create one or more dams to provide still, deep water to float food and building material. The water also acts as a protection against predators. The text reads: Beaver at Work. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
