This design features a painting by Bavarian artist Albrecht Adam (1786–1862), who was an official artist to the Bavarian contingent in Napoleon Bonaparte's army during the 1812 Russian campaign. It shows a horse with a bay coat. The horse is a gelding, a male horse that is no longer able to reproduce. The horse is standing in profile with its head to the left and its tail to the right.
