Banyan trees are considered sacred in Hinduism, a symbol of eternal life. It is believed that Buddha achieved enlightenment while sitting under a banyan tree. The original photograph by MaeFlowers on this Greeting Card shows the lovely curves of the trunks of these beautiful banyan trees, in soft shades of browns and greys, inviting us in to explore. The shapes start to look like creatures believed, in Philippine Mythology, to inhabit these trees.
