    This colour photo captures the beauty of Badlands National Park, located in South Dakota. Colourful bands of rock strata can be seen in the eroding buttes, pinnacles and spires of the rugged landscape. The green of a grassy plateau, near the top of the rocky outcropping, completes the panoramic view. The sun, low in the sky, fills the crevasses with deep shadows. It was a beautiful day with mostly a clear blue sky.
