Bab Al Bahrain, meaning 'Gateway to Bahrain,' is a prominent landmark and the historic entrance to the Manama Souq. Originally designed in 1949 by Sir Charles Belgrave, the advisor to the Emir, it was situated close to the water's edge before land reclamation projects moved the coastline. The structure, with its large arched gateway and white facade, serves as the symbolic heart of traditional trade in Manama.
Passing through the gate leads visitors into the vibrant labyrinth of the Manama Souq, where narrow alleyways are filled with the scents of spices, perfumes, and incense.
